What are Assists?

Assists are items of value — molds, dies, tooling, materials, designs, or engineering services — that the U.S. importer supplies to the foreign seller free or at reduced cost for use in producing the imported goods. CBP requires the value of assists to be added to transaction value when calculating customs value.
