What is BCO (Beneficial Cargo Owner)?

A Beneficial Cargo Owner is the actual owner of the cargo being shipped — the importer or exporter who takes commercial title to the goods, as distinct from intermediaries like freight forwarders or NVOCCs. Carriers use BCO contracts to deal directly with importers rather than through resellers.
