What is Container Yard (CY)?

A container yard is the area at a port or inland depot where loaded and empty containers are stored before loading or after discharge. “CY” also appears in service terms — for example, CY/CY means the carrier handles the move from origin yard to destination yard, with the shipper and consignee responsible for stuffing and unstuffing.
