What is Fuel Surcharge (FSC)?

A fuel surcharge is a separately quoted freight charge that adjusts for the carrier’s fuel cost. Truckers, ocean carriers (where it appears as BAF), and air carriers all use FSCs to recover diesel or bunker volatility without renegotiating base rates.
