What is a Power of Attorney (POA)?

In customs, a Power of Attorney is the document the importer signs to authorize a customs broker to act on its behalf with CBP — filing entries, paying duty, and receiving notices. CBP requires a valid POA on file before a broker can transact business for the importer.
