What is Request for Proposal (RFP)?

A Request for Proposal is a formal solicitation in which an importer or shipper invites carriers, brokers, or 3PLs to bid on their business. A good RFP defines scope, volume, service expectations, and KPIs clearly enough that responses can actually be compared.
